August 6th, 1945

Today marks the 64th anniversary of one of the most tragic days in global history.

On August 6th, 1945, the United States government dropped the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, practically wiping out the entire city.

Even today the use of this kind of force is heavily debated, with some claiming it was the reason Japan eventually surrendered in the end of World War II. Conversely, people against the bombing consider the ferocity unneccesary and perhaps a war crime or act of state terrorism.

Regardless of your personal position, we can all agree this day was a horrible tragedy for mankind. Let us remember the victims and their families – some of whom are still born today with lingering signs of mental and physical disability due to radiation from the bombing.

Thanks to, take a minute to reflect on how over the edge war can go, and perhaps to take a minute to realize how precious your own life is.
